“Let’s all pretend we’re the only ones in the room and feel okay with ourselves dancing around like we have a clue what we’re doing- it’s called making a memory.”
I would like that to become my catch phrase. I understand it’s way to long to be a “catch phrase” so maybe it can just be my really, really long motto. I’m going to write my own biography- according to my freshman English teacher this would be referred to as “auto” biography.
Here we go. “Hello, (standing) my name is Nate Fowler.” I was born in a small town in California. One-two- skip a few- I moved to Boise, ID with my parents at the tender age of 9 years. Soon after I took interest to my dad’s acoustic guitar- I strummed one chord for 3 weeks. Wrote my first song using that one chord. I’ve been doing similar ever since. Music has always been something that has intrigued me. I began as a drummer- when realizing that Phil Collins had already done the whole drummer-lead-singer thing I began spending more time strumming. I’m a really big fan of everything music represents. I love the writing, production, replication, booking, load-in, planning the show, promoting the show, connecting with people from stage, tearing down, meeting people, sharing laughs- occasional awkward tears- then lying in bed watching the fan spin trying to figure out how we can make that exact feeling happen again. Wow- that is basically the entire process of the “music business”, minus some other not so important details.
When I write I try putting words to music. Well yea- I guess that’s the point. I’m pretty emotional- that doesn’t mean “sad”. My sister once gave me a piece of art that reads, “music is what feelings sound like”- that could be a biography right there. I like to make memories and it seems that there are other people that like to make memories as well.
I spent a lot of years trying to discover who I was. I strived to “find” myself. It happens to all of us- the journey of becoming okay with your identity. It took some time, but finally I became okay with the plan that God has destined for my life. I don’t know it yet- but I’m okay with it. I try and just focus on not getting in His way and actually enjoying the journey instead of just missing it. As I grow older there are a few things that have become more important to me; having some friends and having people that feel they can call me their friend. A real friend- not just another name in the iPhone contact list. A “friend” is a funny thing, you just kind of know that you’re friends. There’s no working or guessing- just being friends. I’m married to my best friend and we just kind of know. I like her and she likes me. We laugh a lot and we’re totally fine with sitting at home, on the couch, hanging out, doing nothing, together.
I believe that loves wins- each and every time. Failure is simply not trying. Wasted time is living through Facebook- updating your status and photos about your awesome REAL life is totally cool. I’m passionate- please be passionate about something with me. They don’t have to be the same passions but we can still be friends- I hope. I do not have an “official” Facebook page- just the basic one that is free. I can’t afford the fancy upgrades.
I want to meet you at a show soon- shows are my passion. We can make memories there; laugh (loud), cry (hopefully not a lot), hug (side hugs for the dudes), and it’s all acceptable because we’re friends.
I am the one who really replies on Facebook, yes those Tweets are from me, and the person you’re emailing on my website is me. I’ve asked my wife to do it but I could not afford the salary she demanded. That’s a joke, she just didn’t want to.
Thanks for taking some time to learn a bit about me.
Nate

"Hurricane" named GMA's IMMERSE song of 2010
Nate Fowler’s new EP, “Through It All”, features a great collection of hope inspring, love and love-lost tunes sung through Fowler’s breathy, Top-40 radio friendly pipes. Fowler’s new radio single “Alive” has been welcomed by Dan McColly program director for Journal Broadcast Group and 94.9FM The River saying, “It’s just really unusual to find something that’s so well-written and well Produced that’s done locally.” The EP’s first single held the #1 spot on 94.9FM for 9 weeks and continues to play in regular rotation on the station. The follow up single “What We’ve Started” was also added to 94.9FM currently hovering in top 10 on the stations playlist.
In July of this year Fowler’s song “Hurricane” was named the GMA’s IMMERSE National “Song of 2010” in Nashville, TN. Fowler maintains a connection and warmth on stage that is second to none due to his experience and feeling “home” in front of an audience. He (Fowler) is an energetic singer/songwriter whose lyrics and melodies haunt, going straight to the heart and gut. He wears his love on his sleeve and shares it with anyone willing to experience the moment with him. As a result of his powerful melodies and fulfilling lyrics, Fowlers’ acoustic and full band act have shared the stage with such performers as: NEEDTOBREATHE, Mat Kearney, Andy Grammar, Shawn Mullins, Meredith Andrews, Chris August, Parachute, Kate Voegele, Collective Soul, The Afters, Dave Barnes, Tyrone Wells, and many others. The new EP is a follow up to Fowler’s “Wherever You Go” that also had some minor attention from commercial radio with the single, “On My Way”, which broke top 100 on the CHR/HOT AC national activator chart. Boise Weekly calls the EP, “a polished recording that will give fans something to chew on while waiting patiently for his first full-length release.” Fowler continues to build fans throughout the Northwest with an increasing touring schedule and media support surrounding this up and coming artist paving his own road. Audiences migrate toward Fowlers growing reputation to deliver during live shows and leave the crowd wanting more.
Rock station 94.9 FM The River put the song in light rotation in April then bumped it up to 20 spins a week in June — the first time a local act has been on the everyday playlist in years. –Michael Deeds Idaho Statesman
What are people saying?
“Wherever You Go” features a strong collection of love and love-lost tunes sung through Fowler’s breathy, Top-40 radio-friendly pipes” –Boise Weekly
“His [Fowler] ability to comfort and take you to another place with his vocals is a sign of true talent. “Call Me Family” was one of the most moving pieces I had heard in a very long time. The message is one the whole world needs to hear. You can feel Nate’s connection to music in every one of his songs. It has been a long time since I found an artist with such passion in his music.”– Baron of Music
“This EP is a polished recording that will give fans something to chew on while they patiently wait for his first full-length release.” –Boise Weekly (Artist Feature)
“Chasing Sunsets closes the altogether-too-short EP and leaves the listener begging for more of Fowler’s voice and makes Wherever You Go a beautiful groundwork for what will hopefully be a long and fruitful career for the young, unsigned artist Nate Fowler. The EP is full of sustenance, but in the end is only a snack—a tantalizing bite of what is to come.” –Clash Entertainment
